St. Thomas Women's Soccer (STWS) hosted friendly matches as scheduled on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at the UVI Field. Many supporters were on hand to support the women players and our efforts to put our "practice into play" with each team playing two games "back-to-back."
The feature game of the afternoon was the special "Game of Love." This game was held at the request of STWS Treasurer and UWS Queens midfielder Gloria Lawrenz, whose mother is visiting St. Thomas and has recently undergone her second chemotherapy treatment after surgery for breast cancer.
The scores of the games are noted below:
Strikers vs. Rays for Life – 0-0
"Game Of Love" – UWS Queens vs. Strikers – 2-1
UWS Queens vs. Rays for Life – 1-0
Practices continue on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m. at the UVI Field. Games will be scheduled during the Christmas season if players are available.
