JOB CORPS OFFERS OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL STUDENT

St. Thomas native Arlene Williams is heading back to the Virgin Islands for the holidays after graduating from Sullivan County Community College with an associate's degree in Travel and Tourism.
Williams made the Dean's List all four of her semesters at the college, which she attended as part of the Delaware Valley (N.Y.) Jobs Corps Center's program offering exceptional students the chance to earn a degree while living at the center. She is the second V.I. student in a year to graduate while enrolled in the Delaware Valley Job Corps program.
Job Corps is the nation's largest and most comprehensive residential education and job training program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through 24. Since 1964, the program has provided more than 1.7 million disadvantaged young people with integrated academic, vocational, and social skills training, enabling them to gain independence and get quality, long-term jobs or further their education.
Job Corps is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor.
