Dec. 18, 2007 – The St. Thomas All Stars Steel Band is calling on all former members and new recruits to help make Carnival 2008 great by filling the streets with sweet pan music on both parade days. Carnival 2008 will be the band's 'Sweet 16' anniversary, and they're hoping to have a full trolley this year.
They are hoping to capitalize on the success of their 2007 "Holiday Jam" CD/DVD project for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, which featured music and video of the band. The popularity of the project has sparked a renewed interest in steel band music, and All Stars wants to benefit directly.
The members of the St. Thomas All Stars will get into full swing beginning Monday, Jan. 7. Practice is normally from 7:30-10 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the pan yard, located between the American Legion and WAPA's business office.
