The class will meet from 4-5:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, from Oct. 5 through Dec. 11. No classes will be held Nov. 21-29. There is a fee of $25 per week. The texts that will be used are “Shakespeare, High School High” and “Follow the Beat.” Performances will be held at 7 p.m., on Dec. 4 and 5.
Poetic Beginnings The focus of this workshop is to teach youth that writing can be and is fun. This course is designed to enable youth to express their true feelings and observations through the written and spoken word. Students will study some of Shakespeare’s poems to better appreciate the history of poetry and spoken word. By the end of eight weeks, they will perform on or off stage, quoting their own works and works from published poets, particularly Shakespeare. Also, students will have accumulated enough poems to form a group compilation book. The classes will be held from 4-5:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 9 through April 1, 2010.
To register for any of these classes, call 775-7877. All classes will be held in Pistarckle Theater in Tillett Gardens.
