Alwyn Basil McGivney of Smithfield died on Feb. 21, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 96 years old.

He is survived by his spouse, Gloria Joseph McGivney; nieces: Marion Byer, Anna Smith, Alicea Garnett, Jeanne Ratteray, Corinne Lockhart, Leah McAllister and Irene Vargas; nephew, James Carty; and godchildren: Leon P. Stamps and Patrica Pieto Stamps. He is also survived by his Virgin Islands family: Evans and Monica Best, Earl and Magda Finch, Sandra and Eric Pena, Isabel Watts, Hugh Watts, Montrose Watts, Tatyana and Radiance Clarke, Lilian Foster, St. Clair Watts, Henry Watts and family, Leroy Watts, Winston Richards, Antonio Mafes, Maria Gonzalez, Christine Gilmore, Ana Luz Garcia, Mary Richards, Mrs. L. Canai, Johanna Wiliams, Loureen Birbahadur, Dinidial Birbahadur, Ernestine Allick and Norma Allick, the Health and Human Services staff, and the Seniors Aldersville staff; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
