Woman Charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card

Melinda George, 21, was arrested at about 10 p.m. Wednesday and charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Thomas said that from July to August George used the victim’s credit without his permission and made more than $1,000 in unauthorized charges at various businesses.

The victim told police he recalled using his credit card on July 27 and realized it was missing the following day. On Aug. 2, a bank representative contacted a joint account holder regarding the fraudulent charges and the credit card was cancelled the same day.

George is a St. Thomas native residing in Estate Contant. Her bail was set at $10,000 and she was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
