Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation gives results of young VI athletes as they compete at college, high school, middle school and elementary school levels.
Virgin Islands Track and Field Team member Malique Smith continued his Indoor Track and Field season in Gainesville, Fla., at the Alachua County Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 27. Malique placed 1st in the 500m, setting a new facility record of 1:03.39 in the event.

Virgin Islands Track and Field Team member Michelle Smith, a high school junior at Montverde Academy, competed in the Legends of Alachua County Meet in Gainesville, Fla., on Jan. 28 and 29. Michelle ran a personal record in the prelims of the 200m, winning her heat in 24.92. Michelle finished 2nd in the final of the 200m with another personal record of 24.54.

Michelle also competed in the 60mH, finishing 1st in her prelim heat with a PR of 8.92 and following that up with a personal record of 8.86 in the final for 5th place.
Michelle will return to Gainesville, Fla., on Feb. 4-5, for the Florida /Georgia HS and Youth Challenge.
Michelle was honored on Jan. 26 during the halftime of the Montverde Basketball game. Michelle received a championship ring for winning the 300m hurdles in the Florida State Championship in the 2022 Outdoor Season.

Virgin Islands Track and Field Team member Mikaela Smith, competing for Austin Peay State University, competed in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 27 in Louisville, Ky. Mikaela finished 4th in her heat of the 800m with a time of 2:16.19.
Mikaela will compete next in the Samford Bulldog Invitational on Feb. 11 in Birmingham, Ala.

Virgin Islands Track and Field Team member Rachel Conhoff, a senior at Ursinus College, competed in the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge in New York, N.Y., on Jan. 27. Rachel competed in the 1-mile race and placed 10th in her heat with a time of 5:07.95.
Conhoff’s next track meet will be the Frank Colden Invite in Collegeville, Penn., on Feb. 4.
St. Croix Interscholastic started with its first track and field meet for elementary, middle school, JV and varsity. Forty-six athletes competed in the middle school, JV, and varsity divisions on Jan. 26 in the 200m and 800m; 87 elementary athletes competed the next day Jan. 27 in the 150m and 600m for group 1; Under 9 and the 200m, and 800m for group 2 and 3, Under 11 and All Elementary 11 and older.

Nicola Peters, a junior at Sparkman High School, competed in the last Chance No. 3 Meet in Birmingham, Ala. Peters ran the 60m in 7.92, which was just .04 of a second off of her personal best of 7.88 which she ran in the KYA HS Indoor Classic on Jan. 7.
