Shots Fired on Midland Road Lead to Crash, One Injury

A vehicle came under gunfire while traveling west on Midland Road near Calquohoun on St. Croix Tuesday evening, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a residence wall. A female passenger suffered a minor gunshot wound to her leg and was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians. The vehicle’s other occupants, two adults and two young children, were not injured, the V.I. Police Department reported.

ShotSpotter technology detected a total of 21 gunshots in the area between 5:31 p.m. and 5:32 p.m., first reporting 16 rounds fired in Mon Bijou, followed by five more in Calquohoun. Multiple concerned citizens called 911 to report a vehicle shooting at another vehicle before the crash, according to the police report.

The driver of the vehicle that was fired upon, Callistus Ettiene, was arrested by Superior Court Probation personnel for a probation violation, the police report stated.
