Amabelle Bastian dies at 94

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amabelle Bastian, who transitioned peacefully from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 94, at her residence in Sion Farm on the island of St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Amabelle was born on October 15, 1930, in Cooks Hill, St. Johns, Antigua, in the beautiful West Indies, to Felix Joseph and Janey Richards. She was the cherished wife of the late Leroy Bastian and was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Pearlina V. Jarvis, Sam Richards, Bolton Joseph, Ralston Joseph, Fitztroy Richards, niece Sharon (Jackie) Jarvis, nephews Denley and Wilfred Jospeh.

Amabelle (Christophine) is lovingly remembered by her surviving family, including her brother-in-law Conrad Z. Jarvis, nieces Eldeana (Connie) Jarvis-Martin, Heraldine (Inez) Jarvis, Rosemarie (Sandra) Jarvis-Simon, Karen Jarvis-Jean, Janey and Maritza Richards, Cheryl and Sandra Joseph, Janet Jonas, Patsy Baptiste, nephews Kitson (Habib) and Conrad Jarvis Jr., Arendel and Jonas Richards, Howard Joseph. She was also adored by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Jeannette Edwards, Desiree Dunbar, Marc Phillips, Bayna Lehkem Parilla, Shaquille Victoria, Simolia, Kadisha, Kareem, Akeemia, Tia and Jayden Jarvis, Malcolm Martin, Maisha Martin-Smith, Brian and Jamal Jean, Briyana, Dannyel and Wilhelm Richardson III, Malia and Malachi Oliver, Kayla, Brandel, Christophina, Wendel and Fenay Richards, Shannel, Vashti, Faida and Keyarah, Denny Baptiste and many great-great nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

Amabelle’s legacy is also cherished by a large circle of extended family, friends, and loved ones, including Christine Joseph-King,  Leroy Simon, the Grants Family,  Bastian Family, Richards Family, Joseph Family, Harvey Family, Hansen Family, Smith Family, Gallows Bay Family , Pastor Walton Frederick and Sister Angela Frederick, Friedensfeld Midland Moravian Church Members, Mr. and Mrs. McCoy, Mr. and Mrs. Byam, Gloria Joseph and Family, Christine Greenidge, Debra Hendrickson, Carolyn Friday, Claudette Richards, Magdelin Hobson, Althea Jarvis, Lorroley Hall, Walter Orr Jr., Gary Claxton, Grace Armstrong, Smith, Wesley Issac, Coralie Richards, Heleter George, Janice Issac, and their families. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her with her love, warmth, and grace.

A celebration of Amabelle’s life will be held on Friday, March 21, at the Friedensfeld Midland Moravian Church. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10:00 a.m.  Interment at Midland Moravian Graveyard. The family invites all who loved and knew her to join in honoring her memory.
