George C. James, affectionately known as “Berris,” passed away peacefully at home in St. Thomas, on May 14, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on August 11, 1953, in St. John’s, Antigua, George was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bentura and Christine James.
He is survived by his siblings: Hubert “Wazah” James, Goldine “Patsy” James, and Dr. Delores James. George was a cherished uncle to Dr. Isheba James, Sharifah James, Wazah James, Anniqua James, Wahki James, Anelia James, and great-niece Zakiyah Venen.
He is also survived by his devoted aunts: Louise Hunt (UK), Evelyn James (Antigua), Yvonne James Airall (New York), Pearlina Greenaway (Antigua), and Helenora Joseph (Antigua).
George’s memory will be especially treasured by close friends Earl and Nina Pollack and Victor Barry, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence, warmth, and wisdom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 16th, 2025, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home in St. Thomas. The viewing begins at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m, followed by the service at 10:00 a.m., Interment will follow at Smith Bay Eastern Cemetery.
