ALTONA FIRE LEAVES MAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION

A fire of unknown origin caused serious injuries Monday night to a 34-year-old St. Thomas man.
Faustonesi Sosa is in serious condition with multiple burns at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital after a fire in his one-bedroom apartment in Altona at about 10 p.m.
According to Fire Chief Ubilis Santana, Sosa was in bed when the fire broke out, Radio One reported. Due to the thick smoke, Fire Services personnel have not determined where the fire started.
Fire Marshall Glen Francis and arson investigators are expected to return to the building Tuesday to investigate the origin of the fire.
The blaze was extinguished by about a half-dozen firefighters with a pump truck and tanker.
