PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED

A teenaged girl who was struck and killed by a car on the Moravian Highway near Nisky Center late Friday night has been identified as 14-year-old Irene Jacobs of Estate Thomas, New Quarter.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident said the driver of the Honda CRX that stuck the girl probably never saw the pedestrian before she was struck, according to Radio One news. The victim was thrown against the windshield and then about 150 feet down the road. No charges have been filed against the driver.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
