PROSSER HANDS INNOVATIVE CEO SPOT TO MINNICH

May 4, 2001 – In a move that apparently continues the restructuring and consolidation of Innovative Communication Corp., owner Jeffrey Prosser handed his position as chief executive officer to Thomas Minnich on Tuesday.
Minnich had served as ICC’s chief operating officer for more than three years, according to a company release. Prosser, who recently moved to Florida, will remain chairman of ICC’s board of directors.
What the move means in the broader picture for the privately held company isn’t entirely clear. Inquiries to ICC officials were referred to Minnich, who didn’t return calls.
The change in management follows the consolidation of ICC’s many holdings in the territory. Last November the company opened its new $8-million customer service center on St. Croix. The opening coincided with ICC’s consolidation of its subsidiary holdings –– the V.I. Telephone Corp., St. Croix Cable TV, St. Thomas-St. John Cable TV, Vitelcellular and Vitelcom –– into one company, Innovative.
In an article in the March-April edition of TeleTimes, a telecommunications industry magazine, ICC officials said the consolidation is aimed at bundling services that include telephone, wireless, Internet and cable television. Last month, Innovative Telephone began to offer long-distance service.
"This will be the last piece in achieving our integrated, full-service line vision," Prosser is quoted as saying in TeleTimes. "Customers want choice, service and value. Long distance, coupled with our existing services will enable us to give them the complete package."
