GOVERNOR 'CO-SPONSORING' MEMORIAL SERVICE

Nov. 16, 2001 – A Government House release circulated Friday states that Gov. Charles W. Turnbull is "co-sponsoring an interdenominational memorial service" for the victims of Monday's American Airlines crash with members of the St. Thomas Dominican community.
The service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in downtown Charlotte Amalie.
The Airbus A300 that crashed minutes after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, killing all 260 persons aboard and several others on the ground, was en route to the capital of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Most of the passengers were Dominican nationals.
"The chief executive is expected to be in attendance at the service," the release stated.
