TAXI DRIVER KILLED IN FRONT OF HIS HOME

Dec. 8, 2001 – Little is known about a shooting at 1 a.m. Saturday in Hospital Ground that left 47-year-old taxi driver Egelbert Francis dead.
Francis, also known as "Boggie Pee," was shot fatally as he entered his home. He was a member of the V.I. Taxi Association.
No motive for the shooting has been determined and no arrests have been made.
Francis' death marks the territory's 25th homicide of the year, the 13th on St. Thomas.
In 2000 there were 18 homicides in the territory, 11 on St. Thomas.
Police asked that anyone with information about the killing call the Major Crime Hotline at 715-5546, the Investigation Bureau at 715-5522 or 911.
