July 1, 2002 – "For Better For Worse" is staying on the boards for an extra weekend.
The curtain was scheduled to come down on the comedy by David Edgecombe on Monday night, but its run at the Little Theater on the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas campus has been extended for three more performances — on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Edgecombe, director of the Reichhold Center for the Arts, calls "For Better For Worse," written in the 1970s when he was a college student, his first recognized play. It pokes fun at middle-class hypocrises in a Caribbean society as a young couple, Sandra (Jolanda Donadelle) and Derek (George Silcott Jr.), rebel against traditional notions of marriage and raising a family — and find themselves in a battle royal with Sandra's devout mother (Josephine Lindquist) and Derek's image-conscious politician father (Seymour Davis).
"The community has been warm and extremely receptive to the play," Edgecombe, who directed the Caribbean Repertory Theater Company production himself, said. "The extended run is in response to the favorable feedback we continue to receive."

Curtain time is 8 p.m. Admission is $15 and seating is unreserved. Tickets are being sold at the UVI bookstore, Reichhold Center box office, both Modern Music stores, Parrot Fish Music and Krystal & Gifts Galore on St. Thomas; and at Connections on St John.
