Aug. 20, 2003 — The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued Aug. 18 has these announcements:
UVI Fall Semester Classes Began Aug. 18

UVI students and faculty were welcomed back to campus, as fall semester classes began Aug. 18 on both campuses. The period for students to add or drop classes continues through Wednesday, Aug. 20. For more information call the Registrar's Office on the St. Thomas campus at 693-1160. On St. Croix, call the Registrar's Office at 692-4158.
Creative Writing Course Offered Via Internet
The University of the Virgin Islands' Humanities Division is offering a course in Creative Writing that will be taught online (via the Internet) during the fall semester. It is available to all UVI students. For more information, check out the UVI Homepage (click on link below).
St. Croix Campus Parking Restrictions Noted
Motorists on UVI's St. Croix campus are advised that parking restrictions will be enforced with booting or towing beginning Oct. 1. Warning notices are now being posted on vehicles left in "no parking" or otherwise restricted areas. (These include vehicles blocking drives or access). Effective Oct. 1, it will cost $75 to have boots removed or to have towed vehicles released. Direct further questions to the St. Croix campus Security Office at 693-4444.
UVI Business Division Posts New Web Site
A new web site for the UVI Business Division is now available via the "Other UVI Sites" drop-down menu of the UVI homepage. The page outlines the division's vision and mission, and also includes links to degree and course descriptions, faculty members and more.
Remarkable Big Trees Display Continues Through Sept. 12
An exhibition of 30 photographs of remarkable big trees of the U.S. Virgin Islands – organized by UVI Professor Dr. Robert Nicholls – is on display through Sept. 12 at the V.I. Cultural Heritage Institute, which is located at 5-6 Kongens Gade (Education Street) in Charlotte Amalie. For more information please call 774-9537.
Extension Service to Offer Free Septic System Workshops
The UVI Cooperative Extension Service will conduct free workshops on "Understanding Your Septic System" on St. Thomas and St. Croix in August. The St. John session was held Aug. 19.
The workshops are open to the general public and will cover how septic systems function, how to design and site a system, failure warning signs and system evaluation. The workshops are scheduled as follows:
St. Thomas – August 21 — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Training Room of the UVI Sports and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas campus
St. Croix – August 26 — 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 133 of the UVI Research and Extension Center on the St. Croix campus.
