Dear Source,
We need to remember and open up the why and how of the cruise ship demise to St. Croix. Let's tell the facts as they really should be stated. St. Croix is not the crime area of the Virgin Islands. Look at the statistics for crime this year. We need to be focused on what really happened in the background of St. Croix losing its cruise line business. Tell everyone what the bargaining tool was with The West Indian Co. dock on St. Thomas and the reneging of the cruise ship pier on St. Thomas that the cruise lines were going to build.
St. Croix deserves to be recognized as a friendly island with great people who welcome their guests with open arms every day. Why do I hear on a daily basis when customers venture over to St. Croix from St. Thomas that they never knew how great our island is? Let's let all of the Virgin Islands benefit from tourism as has been done in many other destinations with more problems than all of us put together. All of the U.S.V.I. can benefit from tourism when we all produce a great tourism product.
Don't let the few in-house problems squander what is so great about the U.S.V.I. The year 2004 can be all of our dreams.
