July 28, 2004 – The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas Resort ranked second among the top hotels in the Caribbean and Caneel Bay Resort ranked seventh in a survey of American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members.
The two properties made the list of favorites based on responses from readers of Departures, the luxury lifestyle magazine published for American Express members, to its 2004 Readers' Favorites Survey.
Departures reported having received more than 51,000 online responses to its 2nd annual survey. The results were published in the May-June issue of the magazine.
The top 10 resorts were:
1. La Samanna, St. Martin
2. The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
3. Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda
4. Four Seasons Resort, Nevis
5. Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas
6. Cap Juluca, Anguilla
7. Caneel Bay Resort, St. John
8. The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall, Jamaica
9. Ocean Club, Paradise Island, Bahamas
10. Peter Island Resort, British Virgin Islands.
