Eight Students Receive $2,000 to Attend UVI

September 1, 2004 – Eight students from five territory high schools will receive Innovative scholarships to the University of the Virgin Islands.
The $2,000 scholarship is for this academic year. The recipients are:
Lois Browne, a 2003 graduate of the St. Croix Educational Complex High School. She is currently attending UVI on St. Croix and pursuing a degree in nursing.
Penela Chapman, a 2004 graduate of All Saints Cathedral School and a member of the National Honor Society, ranked fourth in her graduating class of 32 students. She is currently attending UVI on St. Thomas and pursuing a degree in psychology.
Erica Donovan, a 2004 graduate of the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, attends UVI-St. Thomas and is studying accounting.
Latoya Dowe graduated in 2002 from Charlotte Amalie High School. She is studying elementary education and police science at UVI-St. Thomas.
Samantha Duval is a 2004 graduate of St. Croix Central High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She is attending UVI-St. Croix pursuing a degree in nursing.
Shamika George is a graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She is studying biology at UVI-St. Thomas.
Sharifa Hodge graduated this year from St. Croix Educational Complex High School and is studying accounting at UVI-St. Croix.
Rosalinda B. Morales graduated this year from St. Croix Central High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Student Council. She is pursuing a degree in accounting at UVI-St. Croix.
Innovative Telephone initiated the scholarship program. In 2002, the Prosser-ICC Foundation added to the grant an additional $1,000.
Information and applications scholarships can be obtained from the guidance offices in Virgin Islands high schools and from the Office of Financial Aid at the university.
The deadline for the 2005-2006 academic scholarships is April 29, 2005.
