Sunset Jazz 4th Anniversary and Holiday Celebration

Dec. 11, 2005 — The Dec. 16th Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted celebrates not only the holiday season, but marks fourth year anniversary of Sunset Jazz.
Four years of some of the best jazz in the world, each third Friday of every month, makes Sunset Jazz one of the longest running, free community events in the Territory.
Sunset Jazz is having a party – Dixieland Jazz, Smooth Jazz spiced up with some R&B, Latin Jazz, Traditional & Straight Ahead Jazz, and a special holiday presentation of "Wine, A Woman & Song." December's Sunset Jazz is going to give you a good sized helping of all of it.
This event is packed with talent coordinated by music arranger, Marsvyn David. Performing will be the Santa Cruz Brass Band featuring Willian Howell, Paul Chakroff, Wayne Fredericks, Stan Joines, Kevre Hendricks and Kent Moorehead, joined by the Virgin Islands Rhythm Section featuring Dimitri "Pikey" Copemann on sax, Marsvyn David on bass, Elvis Pedro on guitar, Steve Davis on drums, and St. Thomas' own Louis Taylor on piano. Mixing all of this up with the heart-stopping vocals of Wine, a Woman & Song's Claudette "Adjoa" Hinds, Catalina Sevilla-George, Emogene "Blakness" Creece, and Cuban vocalist Rivert Diaz guarantees a night of fabulous music!
The pulse of jazz fans will quicken at the mere thought of it.
To quote the Genius' Guide to Jazz: " …Jazz will make you thinner, taller, smarter, richer, happier, hipper, leaner, meaner, keener, more attractive to members of every sex, and able to do those newspaper cryptoquote puzzles in one go." It's no darned wonder Sunset Jazz has such a drop-dead gorgeous group of concert goers, and knowing this, some sound advice to you would be to have you, your friends, family, neighbors and assorted loved ones in the Fort Frederik Beach Park at 6 p.m. on Friday,
To further commemorate this special celebration, the Frederiksted Ecomomic Development Association, Inc. is asking that all concert goers bring at least one non-perishable food item for donation to Our Brother's Table. This center provides regular meals for the homeless and hungry of our community and Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted is hopeful that with the help of the wonderful, giving concert goers they'll collectively be responsible for stocking the pantries of Our Brother's Table. Rev. Rod Koopmans will be in attendance under the OBT tent that will be set up to collect the wealth of donations that are certain to come.
In honor of the season, vendors will be selling Coquito, Guavaberry and local, traditional sweet breads, tarts and cakes, so be prepared to stock up on all of your goodies for the holidays
Joining FEDA in presenting this holiday jazz extravaganza is WTJX – Channel 12, Sunny 99.5 WVIQ and the newest member of the Sunset Jazz family – West Indies Corporation.
Remember, as always, to bring a chair or a blanket, as seating is at a minimum in the park. FEDA operates a cash bar to help defray the expenses associated with producing this free concert to the community, so please be cool: no coolers! As a new addition, FEDA, with the assistance of West Indies Corporation, will now feature an exclusive wine bar serving upper scale wines and champagne!
