July 5, 2006 – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is experiencing problems with its telephone system on St. Thomas and is unable to accept incoming calls to its main number – 774-3552. Technicians are presently working on the system and hope to restore telephone service today, a release from the authority said.
Electric emergencies can be reported to 774-1424 and water emergencies to 775-5873, however, customers are urged to use those numbers for emergencies only. Dispatchers answering those telephones will be unable to transfer calls to customer service representatives or to other employee extensions.
