Sept. 11, 2006 – Virgin Islands Community AIDS Resource and Education Inc. will hold its annual general meeting at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Villa Morales. The meeting is open to the public and is a chance for the all to learn more about the organization. The agenda will include: the selection of new board members, recruit volunteers and share information about upcoming events, activities, services and programs.
Memberships can be obtained a half-hour before the meeting, which would allow new members to vote for the candidates running for the board of directors. Memberships are: $10 for students, $15 for individuals, $25 for a family and $100 for patrons. A lifetime membership is $300 and a corporate membership is $500.
VICARE has a staff of 12, who provide HIV counseling, testing, risk reduction and prevention. They also offer support services for people with HIV, such as housing, case management, youth programs, condom distribution and advocacy for people living with HIV/AIDS.
