Fana Scores 4 as Dominican Republic Dismantles V.I. Team 6-1

Oct. 1, 2006 — Dominican Republic forward Jonathan Fana scored four goals to unravel an outmatched U.S. Virgin Islands team 6-1 Sunday.
Fana scored off beautiful feeds from his teammates, finding the back of the goal in the 25th minute, the 55th, the 82nd, and the 89th.
"I feel great," the 19-year-old forward said after the match. "This is why I'm playing soccer."
Luis Corporan opened scoring for the Dominicans, scoring in the 14th minute. Kirby Rodriguez scored in a barrage of shots on goal in the 87th.
Bryce Pierre scored the lone V.I. goal, curving a corner kick directly into the net in the 7th minute.
The Dominican Republic advances with Bermuda — who beat the Dominicans 3-1 on Friday and the Virgin Islands 6-0 Wednesday — to the second round of the Caribbean Cup, a qualifier for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
