Elodia Weekly, State Director for the VI Department of Educations Office of Special Nutrition Programs, reminds interested persons and the general public of upcoming community distributions of USDA Commodities for St. Croix and St. Thomas. The distributions are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on each of the following dates:
Saturday, August 4, 2007 Charles H. Emanuel Elementary School Cafeteria
Saturday, August 11, 2007 Charlotte Amalie High School Cafeteria
The commodity distributions are for all needy persons, including the elderly, who meet the following criteria:
1. A person or Head of household must be a recipient of either:
(a) The Food Stamps Programs
(b) Medical Assistance Program
(c) Be a Tenant of Subsidized Public Housing.
2. Persons who are not recipients of the above programs must have a family income that does not exceed the 185% of the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines for July 1, 2006 thru June 30, 2007, and as follows:

Residents are reminded that distribution packages will be given only one (1) per household. To obtain commodity items proper identification must be presented (i.e. Food Stamp Card, Medical Assistance Card, or proof of income for persons completing the Self certification form). Anyone not having proper documentation will not receive commodities. All eligible recipients must bring along sturdy boxes or bags to contain their commodities for transport.
