Dear Source:
What people need to think about is do we want to become like other countries, the United States, etc.? We have so much potential here. Why anyone would ever litter on the streets, in the water, or anywhere else is beyond me. We all need to protect our island, because if we don't, it will deteriorate like other places. We have fertile ground to grow crops, we have access to fish to eat and wonderful local fruits, we have clean air to breath, etc. If we don't start taking better care of ourselves and each other, we will just turn out like every other place I have ever lived.
I moved here from the mainland for a change and don't want to live like I did on the mainland. And I don't want a corrupt government like the mainland. We all need to think about what we do every day. We have 80 square miles on St. Croix and if we don't take care of it, it won't take care of us. We can already see the effects of too much growth on St. Thomas and other places in the world. Mother Earth was not meant to be covered by concrete or too many people and she will definitely let you know when you are abusing her. We live in Paradise and each and every one of us should work very hard to keep it that way. Stop letting money be the driving force of your decisions and start thinking about what is best for everyone. If we work together, we can accomplish anything.
