The West is Best Triathlon, one of the oldest triathlons in the Caribbean, will be held on Sunday, April 6. The event, which is now 19 years old, will start at 7 a.m., and be based at Cocoanuts on the Beach in Frederiksted. The West is Best is the most popular race on the local calendar, as it is both the shortest and flattest, making it both easy and competitive.
The Sprint Distance race will feature a half-mile swim, 11.5-mile bike and a 3-mile run. The Try-A-Tri Distance is designed for younger athletes and beginner adults. This race will include a quarter-mile swim, 7-mile bike and 1.5-mile run.
Registration will open at 6 a.m., and all athletes are asked to be there by 6:30 a.m.
