Stealers Stave Off Elimination with Huge Comeback Victory

May 27, 2008 — The Seaborne Stealers stormed back Monday night after being down 16-5 in the fourth inning to beat the National Guard Hummers 22-16 in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League playoffs.
Things looked gloomy for the regular-season champ when they fell behind by 11 runs, but beginning in the bottom of the fourth inning the Stealers mounted a huge comeback to send the Hummers packing until next season. The Stealers had 22 runs on 32 hits with two errors, while the Hummers plated 16 runs on 16 hits and three errors. Sam Ramos pitched the win for the Stealers, while Jerry Vialet got the loss for the Hummers. Ramos also led his team with a huge offensive night, going 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs, while Raymond Cintron went 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs and Owen Pimentel went 3 for 5. For the Hummers, Niel Davis went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs, Arthur Kanaii went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Edgardo Sanes went 4 for 4.
Wyatt Heat 26, Claudio Enterprises 10
In game two Monday night, Wyatt Heat blasted Claudio Enterprises 26-10 to stay undefeated in the playoffs. It was the Heat with 26 runs on 20 hits and two errors, while Claudio had 10 runs on 11 hits with three errors. Robert Todman was the winning pitcher, while Julio Carmona got the loss for Claudio. Eric Perez led the Heat offensively, going 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs, while David Gonzalez went 3 fo4 with a home run and five RBIs. For Claudio, Luis Moreno went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs and Luis Alexander went 1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs.
Speak the Word 25, Anchor Dive 22
The late game Monday was a slugfest between Speak the Word Ministries and Anchor Dive. When the dust cleared, it was Speak the Word coming away with a 25-22 victory. Speak the Word scored 25 runs on 20 hits with two errors, while anchor Dive had 22 runs on 15 hits with three errors. Ian Lewis picked up the win on the mound for Speak the Word, while Edwin Sankitts got the loss. Top hitters for Speak the Word were Sylvester McIntosh, 4 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs, and Rafael Almonte, 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. For Anchor Dive, Mario Simmonds went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs and Greg Gumbs went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
