The St. Croix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will hold its annual Sunrise Sickle-Cell Walk-a-Thon at 6 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 20. The walk will leave from the Golden Rock Shopping Plaza and end up at the Sion Farm Shopping Plaza. It will be part of activities to bring attention to National Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month.
Other sororities, fraternities, community organizations and students will take part. Students wishing to participate will receive three hours of community service credits and are required to register prior to walking.
Immediately following the walk-a-thon, the sorority will hold a Crucian Breakfast and Soup Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Sion Farm Shopping Center's parking lot.
All proceeds will benefit the sickle cell scholarship fund and other chapter programs.
