Parent Empowerment Workshop Begins Series

Here to Understand & Give Support (HUGS) in collaboration with the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) and Virgin Islands Family Information Network on Disabilities (VIFIND), will have their first meeting of the school year. It will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Sugar Estate Head Start Center on First Avenue (between 1st and 2nd Streets).

Presenter Pamela Prescott-Advocate from the Disability Rights Center (Virgin Islands Protection and Advocacy) will be discussing “Special Education Rights and Wrongs, and What Parents Should Know About Their Child’s IEP.” Each workshop will also include a question and answer session, a resource table with handouts, and dinner.
