Plaskett Anchors 2010 USTA Tennis Team to Atlanta Finals

Alric “Ricky” Plaskett, former Virgin Islands junior tennis champion and former USVI Davis Cup competitor, compiled a 7-1 doubles record and led the 2010 North Park Alpharetta, Georgia, Men’s USTA team to a runner up finish in this year’s 2010 United States Tennis Association Atlanta League Tennis Championships. He last represented the Virgin Islands internationally in Honduras in 2008 as member of the V.I. Davis Cup tennis team. He has compiled a 24-7 record from 2008-2010 and
already has one Atlanta City Finals Championship (2009) as well as a USTA Georgia State runner up (2009) finish to his credit. Plaskett is, 1990 graduate of Charlotte Amalie H.S., recently chaired the credentials committee for the recent ATP 250 Professional Tennis Tournament, which was held at the Atlanta Athletic Club in July of this year. This
men’s professional tennis tournament, which had returned to the Metro Atlanta area after almost a 10-year absence, featured players Andy Roddick, John Isner and eventual champion Mardy Fish. Plaskett learned to play tennis from local tennis greats Alden Richards at the age of eight as well as his two brothers, Albert and Enrique. Alden, who is a physical education teacher on St. Thomas, still offers advice before big matches or after a tough loss. Plaskett’s next tournament will be the 2010 Emory University Challenge on Oct. 22-24
