Viola Anastacia Vanterpool Dies

Viola Anastacia Vanterpool, better known as "Maude” or “Nanny," died on Dec. 1. She was a member of the Methodist Benevolent Society.
She is survived by her daughters: Berly E. Farrington, Bernice A. Turnbull and Eunice Raymond; sisters: Mildred Fahie (Tortola, B.V.I.) and Inez Gumbs (New York); special daughter, Carol D. Thomas; stepdaughter: Lillian Mercer; grandchildren: Lorraine Farrington, Monroe Farrington Jr., Maurice Farrington, Raayah (Lisanne) C. Churgin, Ludence A. Turnbull Jr., Leeal Turnbull, Judith Todman, Tyrone Todman, Kevin Mercer, Elston Lee Mercer and Monique Mercer; greatgrandchildren: Kraig Monsanto, Kori Monsanto, K’shawn Farrington, Zahnaysia Farrington, Tahjari Farrington, Jenae Farrington and Jahshim N. Turnbull; and great-great grandchildren: Tasheem Farrington, Elijah Farrington, Synia Martin, Marshawna Farrington, Sylvia Farrington and Joemanie Sweeney.
She is also survived by sons-in-law: Ludence A. Turnbull Sr., Mario Raymond and Howard Mercer; brother-in-law, James “Squire” Hazlewood; nieces and nephews (children of brothers and sisters): Hue Fahie: Henry Fahie, Harris Fahie, Harry Fahie, Irene Freeman and Iris Scatliffe; Mildred Fahie: Leonie Riddle, Naomi Hodge, Clemenia Duncan, Sylvia Grasso, Victoria Hodge and Carl Hodge; Ilva Rhymer: Grasilda Dobbins, Helen Hart, Alvin Payne and Dr. Allen Lettsome; Olga Hazlewood: Consuelo Fleming, Delores Harrigan, Sarah Hart, Clayton Williams, Denise Hazlewood and Laverne Hazlewood; Inez Gumbs: Clifton Gumbs, Cedric Gumbs, Judith Parker, Nydia Gumbs; Elaine Fahie: James Penn, Alma “Alice” Willett, Alford Christopher, Gloria Callwood and Henry Richards; Ida Fahie: Carolyn Thomas; Wilfred Fahie: Cleone Blair, Carmen Gordon, Clarissa Crawley and Celia Fahie; Clothilda Fahie: Leroy Turnbull, Irene Turnbull, Gloria Hodge, Errol Hodge and Alfred Fahie; and other relatives: the Jennings family members, Fahie family members, Wheatley family members and Vanterpool family members.
Other survivors include: caregivers: Miriam Blaize and Patricia Phipps; and special friends: Henrita Todman, Claudette Browne, Winston Turnbull, Carmen Grant, Juel T.R. Molloy, Ebenezer Fahie, Alfreda Phillips, Bernice Heyliger, Blanche Thomas, Marjorie Vanterpool, Sezlie Reovan, Vadis Springette, Emeline Jennings, Angelita Jennings, Hilda Barry, the Martin, Francis and Turnbull families of Contant, the Turnbull family of Tortola, members of the Methodist Benevolent Society; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Wesley Methodist Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 1.
Funeral arrangements are by Turnbull’s Funeral Home.
