Carmen Maria Acevedo Dies at 85

Carmen Maria Acevedo Carmen Maria Acevedo of Estate Sion Farm died on Nov. 8 at her residence. She was 85 years old.
She is survived by his husband, Rafael Acevedo; daughters: Carmen M. D. Jones and Sylvia E. D. Parris; brother: Carlos Vegerano; sisters: Antonia Vegerano Robles and Maria Vegerano; son-in-law, Stanley Parris; stepdaughter, Nereida Acevedo Tavares; stepsons: Rafael Acevedo Jr. and Jose Chemon Acevedo; granddaughters: Amaryllis E. C. Stewart and Yolanda Ojeda Maldonado; and grandsons: Santiago Camacho Jr., Julio C. Ojeda, Edgardo L. Ojeda and Rafael Ojeda Jr.
She is also survived by great-granddaughters: Carina Erina Stewart, Jackie Nieves, Jessica Nieves, Jasmin Nieves and Rihanna E. Ojeda; great-grandsons: Brandon O. Stewart, Edgardo L. Ojeda Jr., Luis Adrian Ojeda, Caesar Edeil Ojeda, Rafael J. Ojeda and Rasheed M. Ojeda; five great-great grandchildren; adopted granddaughter, Betsy Torres Santos; adopted grandsons: Eddie Torres and Edgardo Torres; best friends: Francisca "Francia" Ramos, Minister Genaro Torres and wife Evelyn Torres; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at James Memorial Chapel.
There will be a second viewing held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at James Memorial Chapel, La Grande Princesse, Christiansted. Interment will follow at the Kingshill Cemetery.
