Charles Oscar Stanley Dies at 85

Charles Oscar StanleyCharles Oscar Stanley, also known as “Charlie,” died on July 23. He was 85 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Smithen Stanley; daughter, Yvette Stanley Willocks; sons: Paul L. Stanley, Edread Ray Stanley and Rodney O. Stanley; adopted son, Carl “Shooter” Stanley; grandchildren: Paul Jr., Jinelle, Camille, Yorel and Jaylon Stanley, Ashley Benton, Ratania Green, Khareem, Jamali, Abdul, Jamel, Tevon, Taeya, Rodney Ray and William Stanley, Rodney Jr., Wackeem and Renna Stanley, and Saida and Harold Alex Willocks; and great- grandchildren: Khalil and Kai Stanley, Kyler and Jamyson Richards, Mykayla Benton, Le’Nika Frederick, Kayla Marie, Karebm and Clarene Kareena Stanley, Tes’John, Jeremiah and Amiah Stanley, Nickira Stanley and Seleena Willocks.
He is also survived by sisters: Florence Rahming, Margaret Claxton and Marilyn Samuel; brothers: Ernest, Anderson, Thomas, David, Elton and Franklin Stanley; son-in-law, Judge Harold W.L. Willocks; daughter-in-law: Jeannette Stanley; sisters-in-law: Helen, Harleen, Valarie and Leonie Stanley, Maude Francis and Veronica Daniel; brothers-in-law: Desmond Claxton, Rupert Samuel and Kenneth Smithen; former daughter-in-law, Ermine King Stanley; special caretaker, Eliza Antoine; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at St. John’s Anglican Church in Christiansted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
