Details are sketchy, but an American Airlines spokeswoman said Monday that American Flight 1350 from St. Thomas to Miami on Saturday was diverted to Nassau, Bahamas, because an indicator light in the cockpit showed a possible mechanical issue.
“Maintenance was checking on the aircraft,” spokeswoman Laura Masvidal said. She was not able to supply further information.
Masvidal said the plane was a Boeing 757 with 173 passengers and a crew of six. After leaving St. Thomas at 8:05 a.m., it landed safely in Nassau at 10:27 a.m.
The airline sent the passengers on to Miami aboard another aircraft that she said departed Nassau at 2:42 p.m. and arrived in Miami at 4 p.m.
