DHS Continues to Celebrate Older Americans Month

The week opens with church service on St. John at the Nazareth Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until noon, Sunday, May 15, according to a press release issued on Friday by the V.I. Department of Human Services (DHS).
A “Blaze A Trail” Awards Ceremony and cocktail reception will be held from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at Government House. The ceremony will recognize those older individuals who have made contributions to the community in one form or another.
A St. Thomas Health Expo will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 19, at the Tutu Park Mall. There will be representatives from the medical field to provide screening for various health problems that affect the older Americans. These screenings will include diabetes, high blood pressure, vision and other health concerns. There will also be representatives from DHS, which services the needs of seniors. Seniors are encouraged to come out and participate.
The week of activities will conclude with a beach day at the Frederiksted Pool on St. Croix. The activities will start at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 pm.
