VITFF Championships to Be Held June 25 on St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF)has announced that the VITFF Championships will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 25, at Ivana Eudora Kean High School track on St. Thomas. The meet includes competition in running, jumping and throwing events for youths, juniors, seniors and masters.
It will be held during the annual celebration of Olympic week and will offer the rare opportunity for VITFF team members who train and compete out of the territory to compete at home on the IAAF certified track, which was installed in 2015. The competition is open to all athletes including clubs, student athletes, unattached individual athletes and invited international competitors. All Virgin Islands athletes who are registered with VITFF are eligible.
The organizing committee got the go-ahead from the VITFF Executive Committee when the federation was notified that it was successful with its proposal before the IAAF to host the V.I. National Championships, and it will receive a grant of $25,000 to conduct the meet. Funds from that grant will be dedicated to transport athletes from St. Croix and from outside the territory.
Clubs and athletes who are registered with VITFF and in good standing are eligible for competition grants for the competition. Athlete registrations are due Thursday, June 23. The technical meeting will be held on Friday June 24
