Potter Announces New Passport Photo Requirement

according to a press release issued Monday by Lieutenant Governor Osbert E. Potter.
Customers must remove their eye glasses when taking a photo for a U.S. passport. By removing eyeglasses, they will be less likely to experience delays in the application process. Customers may wear glasses only in rare circumstances of medical necessity (e.g., when a customer has had recent surgery and eyeglasses are necessary to protect the applicant’s eyes during urgent travel.)
Customers should obtain a signed statement from a medical professional or health practitioner (such as a surgeon or ophthalmologist) in these cases. This change in the passport photo requirement allows Passport Acceptance Agencies across the United States to more readily identify customers.
Customers needing assistance or more information may contact the Passport Acceptance Facility on St. Croix at 773-6449 or on St. Thomas at 774-4024.
