Voter Registration for General Election Will End Oct. 2

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the St. Thomas Elections System Office experienced technical difficulty with its Internet system. However, during the period the system went down, the office did not close the voter registration process and no one was turned away due to the interruption, according to a press release from the Elections System of the Virgin Islands.
“Once the required documents are submitted, registration cards are issued immediately,” said Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes.
The supervisor also reminds the public that Oct. 2 is the deadline to register to vote in order to be eligible to participate in the Nov. 8th General Election. According to V.I. Code 18, chapter 5, voter registration is closed for a period of 30 days immediately preceding and five days immediately following each election.
For more information, all the Election System Office at 774-3107.
