St. Thomas-St. John Board of Elections Certifies Vote Count

The St. Thomas-St. John Board of Election on Tuesday certified the results of the Nov. 8 general election, with no changes to the unofficial outcomes announced on election night.

Fewer than half of the registered voters in the St. Thomas-St. John District cast ballots; 10,906 of the 23,917 registered voters, a turnout of 45.6 percent.

The seven successful candidates for senator were led by Marvin Blyden with 6,492 votes, followed by: Janette Millin Young, 5,317; Tregenza Roach, 5,058; Myron Jackson, 4,450; Jean Forde, 4,244; Kevin Rodriguez, 4,134; and Dwayne DeGraff, 3,831.

Running unopposed, Brian Smith captured the at-large Senate seat with 3,228 votes from the district.

And Delegate Stacey Plaskett, also unopposed, garnered 7,496 votes.

For the St. Thomas district members of the V.I. Board of Education, Maurice Donovan, Arturo Watlington Jr. and Lydia Hendricks were the winners. James Provost won the at-large seat to the Board of Education; and Arah C. Lockhart and Kyza Callwood were successful in the race for Board of Education, STT-STJ district. Alecia Wells was unopposed for the seat on the St. Thomas-St. John Board of Elections and garnered 4.287 votes.
