AARP VI Gives Prestigious Volunteer Award to Scott Bradley for Community Service

Scott Bradley

AARP has selected Scott Bradley to receive its 2017 AARP Virgin Islands Andrus Award for Community Service, which is the association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.

AARP Virgin Islands selected Bradley for his remarkable service, which has greatly benefited the community, supported AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers. He is the vice-president of the board of directors and program director at My Brother’s Workshop.

The nonprofit organization is dedicated to empowering Americans and enhancing the quality of life for all people as they age. Through My Brother’s Workshop, AARP member Bradley provides hope, faith and purpose to at-risk and high-risk youth in the territory. My Brother’s Workshop offers mentoring, counseling, paid job training, education and job placement to these young adults.  Through his volunteer work, Bradley has helped them transform their lives and that of V.I. communities.

The award will be formally presented to Scott Bradley at a ceremony and luncheon to be scheduled during the first half of 2018.  Attendance and entry to the luncheon will be by invitation.

“This award acts as a symbol to the public that we can all work together for positive social change,” said Troy de Chabert-Schuster, AARP VI state director.  “AARP has long valued the spirit of volunteerism and the important contributions volunteers make to their communities, neighbors and the programs they serve.”

Recipients across the nation were chosen for their ability to enhance the lives of AARP members and prospective members, improve the community in or for which the work was performed and inspire others to volunteer.
