Armed Men Rob Home Depot, Exchange Gunfire with Police

A group of armed suspects robbed Home Depot Saturday evening and exchanged gunfire with police as they made their escape, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, just after 7 p.m. Saturday an unknown number of suspects entered the Hone Depot in Market Square East and held the store employees at gunpoint while seizing on unspecified amount of cash.

As they exited the store the suspects were confronted by a patrol officer and there was “an apparent exchange of gun fire,” the police report said.

The suspects fled in the area of the former Donoe housing community in a silver-colored sedan.

The investigation is ongoing, The Major Crime Unit is asking the community for assistance in this incident. Police urged anyone with information to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
