State Office of Special Education to Send Out Post-School Surveys

The United States Virgin Islands Department of Education

All former students, ages 16-21, who attended public or private schools and who fit the following criteria are informed that the State Office of Special Education will continue to conduct its Post School Outcome Surveys to determine post-high school outcome success rates:
1. The former student was a recipient of special education services through the V.I. Department of Education, and
2. received a high school diploma, certificate of completion, or
3. may have exited schools in any manner other than graduation, in school year 2017.

Renee Charleswell, Ph.D., state director of the Office of Special Education, informs all former students that the collection of this data is crucial to better serve Virgin Islands students and their families.

Surveys will be mailed to students who graduated/exited during the 2017-18 school year along with a return envelope for ease of submission. The data collected from surveys will assist the State Office of Special Education and the Local Education Agency to improve transition outcomes for youths with disabilities in the territory.
