Police Charge Acosta with Domestic Violence

The V.I. Police Department on Monday arrested 55-year-old Jose Acosta and charged him with two counts of simple assault/domestic battery, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At about 8:39 a.m. Monday a woman reported to the Ancilmo Marshall Command Police that she had been assaulted by a male acquaintance.

She told the officers that the assaults began Oct. 7, when she was slapped several times in the face. She reported that she had again been assaulted several days later, when the male acquaintance hit her in the chest, and threatened her.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau contacted 55-year-old Jose Acosta. Police said he e admitted to assaulting the woman, and they arrested him. No bail was set, as per the territory’s domestic violence statute, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
