Major Crime Unit Investigates Body Found In Burnt Vehicle

The Major Crimes Unit of the V.I. Police Department is investigating a body found in burned vehicle Friday morning on St. Thomas.

At about 1:46 a.m. Friday, members of the Major Crime Unit were dispatched to Tutu Valley in response to a reported homicide. At the scene, officers found a four-door Toyota Camry with what appeared to be a male body sitting in the left passenger rear seat.

Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and found no vital signs. Police were not immediately able to identify the victim because the body was burned beyond recognition.

Police urged anyone with information on the crime to contact the Investigation Bureau by calling 340-774-2211, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stopper USVI, at 1-800-222 8477. Information to Crime Stoppers which leads to the resolution of a case can make the tipster eligible for an anonymous cash award.
