Yashira Rhymer-Stuart broke the V.I. National Record in the high jump for first place at the Indianapolis Winter Break Meet with a leap of 1.76m, achieving a USA number one ranking, an IAAF world ranking of 9th and an NCAA Division II automatic qualifier, according to a press release issued by the Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF).

She shared the V.I. record with Wanetta Kirby at 1.75m. She opened the season in Indianapolis with a 1.75m. Rhymer-Stuart is All-American and a senior at Bellarmine University. She competed for the Virgin Islands for the first time in the CAC Games this past summer in Barranquilla, Colombia.

To prepare for her first international championship as a V.I. National Team member, she received coaching from V.I. National Coach Nathan Taylor, who traveled to Cincinnati to provide high jump sessions, and she participated in the CAC Games VITFF training camp funded by the V.I. Olympic Committee in Houston, Texas, headed by Laverne Jones-Ferrette and V.I. National Coach Stephen Ferrette.
