The anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, seeks the public’s help to solve a brutal 2013 homicide, in which a mother and her seven-year-old son were killed, and capture a suspect in a 2009 homicide.
St. Croix – According to the Crime Stoppers report, at about 2 p.m. July 9, 2013, the 911 emergency call center dispatched St. Croix police units to a report of shots fired in the residential area on the northern side of Estate Glynn.
Within 10 minutes a subsequent call reported that two individuals, 28-year-old Kenya Lawrence and her 7-year-old son, Devontae Charles, had been gunned down in their Estate Glynn home and were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the police report, Lawrence and Devontae were in the home along with her 2-year- old twins. The toddlers were not physically harmed in the incident.
St. Thomas – Jose Almestica, 31, is wanted in connection with a murder that took place Aug. 30, 2009, in the area of Paul M. Pearson Garden Housing Community.
Almestica, who lived at 107-A-1 Contant, stands 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, according to a V.I. Police Department wanted poster. He has tattoos on his upper right arm, upper left arm, stomach, upper left chest and upper back.
