The Records Bureau of the Virgin Islands Police Department at the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex on St. Thomas said Wednesday it is “working feverishly” to resolve a problem that is causing delays in processing and releasing incident reports.
The bureau is still able to produce timely police and traffic records, the news release said, and still has the ability to process fingerprints. This can be done Mondays thru Fridays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
However, some officers and staff are still not at full capacity as it relates to accessing all resources necessary to serve the public at full potential, the bureau said.
The department said those awaiting incident reports can call the VIPD at 340-774-2211 and access the Records Bureau. Have your incident report number available, the news release said, so that a representative can complete a search for the report and advise of the report’s availability status.
Following this process will limits the inconvenience of individuals having to visit the bureau when a report is not available.
