St. Croix Man Charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle

The V.I. Police Department on Sunday, Dec. 8, arrested Wayne Sobratti Jr. and charged him with unauthorized use of a vehicle.

At about 3:33 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the scene of a single car auto accident in Frederiksted. Upon arriving to the scene, officers noticed that the vehicle in question matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Sobratti, who was driving the vehicle, stated that the owner of the vehicle knew he had it. Officers contacted the owner of the vehicle who stated that she did not give Sobratti permission to use the vehicle.

Sobratti was subsequently placed under arrest and bail was set at $10,000.

Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
