Robbery Reported in Downtown Frederiksted

A man visiting a street vendor in Frederiksted Friday morning reported to police he’d been robbed by an armed man

The victim, whose name was not released by police in accordance with department policy, walked into the Wilbur Francis Command in Mars Hill at 11:40 a.m. Friday to report he had been robbed.

The victim said he had been at a street vendor on Fisher Street, Frederiksted, when a black male with dreadlocks approached him with a handgun and demanded his jewelry. The victim complied, and the suspect left the area on a bicycle, traveling on Queen Street.

The victim was not physically injured during this incident.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is asking for the community’s assistance in locating this suspect. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
